Coordinator of School Improvement
Ms. Aisha Brown

Aisha Zakia Brown was born on December 28, 1975 in Vinita, OK to Gary and Deborah Brown both school teachers. On October 1, 1978, the family welcomed a baby born named Shanga Dequan Brown. Her parents catered their children with love and affection. Aisha enjoyed a wonderful childhood which she shared with her favorite grandmother "Nanny" and a host of cousins. She attended Southeast Elementary School until the third grade then later attended Eastside Preparatory School, a school which her mother founded in 1985.
In the summer of 1989, the family moved to Tulsa, OK where her mother accepted a teaching position at E.W. Woods Community School. In Tulsa, Aisha attended Nimitz Middle School then was later accepted to Booker T. Washington High School.
In 1996, her brother Shanga was killed and in 2000 she lost her father, Gary Brown who died of unknown causes. Even through tragedy and despair she was able to attend classes at Tulsa Community College then later attended Northeastern State University.
She enjoys spending time with her baby, "Bailey" a St. Bernard puppy who also happens to be the school mascot. Aisha also enjoys reading, attending plays, and going to any event where she happens to be invited by one of her many students. She believes that without discipline in the classroom, there cannot be any learning. Her favorite quote is, "Without discipline success is not possible." She is a passionate teacher who strives to instill in her students that learning is not always fun no matter what the age of the student happens to be. Aisha motivates her students through life examples and reminds them that no one is obligated to believe in them. They must develop a desire that they have to believe in themselves and to remember to always do their best in any situation.
Aisha has been affiliated with Deborah Brown Community School since its inception in 2000. She previously worked at New Concept Preparatory School, a private school where she had the opportunity to personally train with her mother Deborah Brown the founder of Deborah Brown Community School. During her tenure at New Concept, she taught grades pre-k thru fifth. At Deborah Brown Community School, Aisha taught grades second and third. During the 2003-2004 school year, her class had the highest API score in the Tulsa District. Aisha has been thoroughly trained in the Deborah Brown Community School methodology, Direct Instruction, DIBELS, and Fred Jones-Tools for Teaching. It is her goal as the Coordinator of School Improvement to maintain and exceed the high expectations that have been established by the Executive Director, Deborah Brown.
